Espuña announced the generational change within the company on 25 January. Esteve Espuña took over the management of the family business with words of praise for his father, who has run the company for 43 years.
“Under my father’s management, Espuña has perfected the technique of packaging delicatessen products, guaranteeing maximum food safety in its manufacturing processes. In addition, it launched an internationalisation process leading it to more than 45 countries.
Xavier Espuña will remain within the company as its Chairman, with advisory functions in different areas and a particular focus on R&D and production.

Esteve Espuña takes over the management of the company, replacing his father Xavier, who has held this office since 1975.
The new management has set itself the strategic priorities of consolidating its leading position in the Sliced Cured Ham market and reinforcing its growth in key export countries.
Regeneration of the management team with a view to the future
Esteve Espuña joined the family-based multinational in 2014 after a series of career experiences abroad, working for Samsung in Korea, and at home, where he held positions of responsibility at companies such as Draco Systems, the electronics design engineering firm.
The projects that form part of the new mid-term strategic plan include consolidating Espuña’s leadership in the Sliced Cured Ham market, with a firm commitment to packaging sustainability, and developing the cooled ready meal business. Finally, it will reinforce the company’s growth in strategic export countries such as France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the USA and Canada.
