Esteve Espuña takes over the management of the company from his father, Xavier Espuña, who has held this position since 1975.

The new management team's strategic priorities are to consolidate its leadership in the Sliced Cured Ham market and to reinforce growth in key export countries.

Espuña announced, on January 25th, the generational changeover of the company. Esteve Espuña took over the management of the family business, while praising his father, at the helm of the company for 43 years.

"Under my father's leadership, Espuña has perfected the technique of packaged charcuterie, guaranteeing maximum food safety in its manufacturing processes. In addition, he began a process of internationalisation that has taken us to more than 45 countries.

Xavier Espuña will continue to be linked to the company as President, with advisory functions in different areas of the company, with a special focus on R&D and production.

Renewal of the top management with a view to the future

Esteve Espuña joined the family multinational in 2014, after accumulating international professional experience working for Samsung in Korea or, on a national level, where he held positions of responsibility in the electronic design engineering company Draco Systems, among other companies.

The projects that form part of the new medium-term strategic plan include consolidating Espuña's leadership in the sliced cured ham market, with a strong commitment to sustainability in packaging, and developing the refrigerated pre-cooked dishes business. Finally, strengthening the company's growth in strategic export countries, such as France, Germany, the UK, the USA and Canada.
